Siskiyou Works connects education to industry to improve our workforce, our economy and our community. As a 501c3 non-profit our key initiatives include supporting Cradle to Careers for Siskiyou and the K-16 collaborative grant to build workforce in healthcare and education; with Siskiyou Works Youth Collaborative; the Siskiyou Works career exploration collaborative; the Siskiyou childcare workgroup; and grant writing to support career technical education programs in districts across Siskiyou County and the region.
The Siskiyou Occupational Advancement Roadmap operates as a powerful resource, helping local employers to advance employee job opportunities. Siskiyou County residents can easily access employment opportunities through a web-based portal that connects students and job seekers to local professionals who facilitate career exploration, job training, work-based learning, and job placement. Siskiyou County recognizes workforce development as a critical infrastructure for economic development. Working-age individuals with stable employment and incomes remain in Siskiyou County using their skills. Businesses thrive and multiply because of Siskiyou County’s qualified labor pool.
A Siskiyou County Collective Impact Team for Workforce Development
SiskiyouWorks’ collaborative planning and implementation activities reflect a Collective Impact model (the commitment of a group of members from different sectors to a common agenda to solve a specific problem). Members are committed to the Siskiyou Occupational Advancement Roadmap as a countywide culture that continually grows and adapts to support workforce and career improvements for a better quality of life. Diversity, equity, and inclusiveness are a critical foundation for the health of any community and for SiskiyouWorks’ power as a catalyst for economic change. The SiskiyouWorks steering committee is committed to ensuring every interested member of the community can easily participate.
