DESCRIPTION | Summary: Supports Goodwill’s mission by working with a team to provide job training and support to persons with barriers to employment. The Career Coach supports participants goal plans including providing on-the-job coaching in community work settings and provides skills training, instruction, and support for job search in Goodwill Job Connections, Learning Labs, and other training sites.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)Provides on-the-job coaching, training, and instruction to support participants career goals at a variety of work locations.Explains and demonstrates tasks to participants based on employers’ expectations. Works with individuals on a variety of tasks to ensure individual understands job duties, and tasks are achievable, creating modifications and accommodations as needed.Works with Career Counselor to develop, monitor and resolve skills training, vocational or behavioral issues.Liaison between business partners and Goodwill, ensuring contract fulfillment and exceptional customer service. Liaison between home department and other Goodwill departments.Supports participants in communicating their needs for accommodations, supports, and/or modifications for job duties in competitive employment to their employer.Assesses participant skills, abilities and limitations and provides feedback to the Career Counselor on goal plan progress and challenges.Assists with retention of participants placed in competitive employment.Performs type of work supervised. May work a variety of shifts and locations, including weekends or evenings.Ensures all paperwork and related activities are current, accurate and in compliance. Includes case notes, monthly participant satisfaction surveys, and billing reports.May transport participants in company or personal vehicle.Carries phone, responds in timely manner during work day. Covers shifts of absent workers, which could include working at different job sites. |
POSITION REQUIREMENTS | Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Changes approach/method to best fit situation.Ability to adapt to changing work assignments, for both the participant and the Career Coach.Ability to read and interpret documents such as goal plans, case notes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to accurately prepare case notes and other recordkeeping documents.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.Perform basic math functions.Must be proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current regular Oregon (California for California employee) driver’s license, possess a valid full driver’s license (not a permit, temporary or provisional license) for a minimum of the last 3 years, clean driving record and insurance. Reliable independent transportation, able to drive locally.
